In December 2006, Columbus Ohio's Mega-Alternative Rock station CD101 added Earwig's song 'Used Kids' to their regular rotation play-list. It was a risky move that paid off for the station and the band, landing Earwig's song in the Top 5 most requested songs at the station ever since. That's a feat almost un-heard of for a small, do-it-yourself band. The popularity of the single has spread to other stations as well (Sirius, Top 5 at college radio; ACRN, WXCU, WCBE, WOBN and others in Ohio that report to the CMJ). The local press was quick to report the airplay and national media are starting to pick up on the band's story with upcoming reviews in The Big Takeover and Alternative Press.

A virtually unknown band on an incredibly small label, Earwig on "micro-indie" LFM Records released an album on their own in early 2007. By April, they had a Top 5 single on a huge commercial station (WWCD101/Columbus), their digital sales were skyrocketing and they had signed a deal with superstore mega-chain Meijer to distribute their CD and bring them into 7 million households in 5 states.
