Bio

Earnest Jordan was born the eldest of five children to Earnest and Emma Jordan on November 21, 1970 in Jasper, Alabama. Earnest Senior who died in 2005 at age 54 was an outstanding blues singer and musician. The Senior Earnest was the greatest influence on his son. EJ watched his dad bring audiences big and small to tears of joy on countless occasions in group as well as solo settings. EJ has always had a keen interest in learning the art of musicianship. Listening to blues shows on Alabama A&M University’s WJAB public radio added to EJ’s passion for his daddy’s style of music. In the year 2000 at the age of 30 he finally purchased his first guitar and began taking lessons from his dad. Earnest Senior encouraged his son to seek out and learn from as many good players as he could find. EJ did just so and eventually met Dana Fletcher and his father Bobby Ray Fletcher who also passed in 2005. The two would become EJ’s teachers as well as close friends. EJ affectionately refers to his lessons with Dana’s “Pops” as boot camp. Alongside his teachers he was able to put his lessons to use quickly at Huntsville’s KAFFEEKLATSCH BAR Sunday Night Blues Jam. Through the Fletcher's, EJ was introduced to Nashville's renowned guitarist Jack Pearson. Jack, along with wife, Elizabeth, who is also an outstanding player, have become good friends and huge musical influences on EJ. EJ has been thrown into the vocalist position out of necessity as no one else in their circle of players would do it. He definitely does not consider himself a natural but works hard to develop his craft. He has been called Huntsville Alabama's best kept blues secret.
