Bio
On my 7th birthday my dad bought me a Yamaha PSR 520 keyboard. I had no previous experience in music before other than the recorder classes you take in elementary school. I started to doodle around on it every day; trying to learn how to play things I had heard. I joined the band in middle school with the clarinet and saxophone while still keeping up my keyboard interest at home. My dad had a huge influence on my style of music over those years- introducing me to very different and interesting music like Genesis, ELP, Peter Gabriel, Mike Oldfield, Pat Metheny, lots of prog-rock, fusion jazz, and much more. As I went through high school I had increased my play-by-ear talent through my self-taught efforts of countless transcriptions. Sax had become a major part of my music life- opening a door to the jazz world. I joined many bands playing sax and keys; an extremely awesome experience. I soon became very involved in classical (more contemporary) and movie/game soundtrack after listening to some of my favorite movie and game scores. I became acquainted with some well known local musicians such as Elmer Gibson(jazz pianist), William Curry(North Carolina Symphony conductor), and the people over at Dave Adam’s and Rod Abernathy’s studio “Rednote Audio”(The Hobbits, Prince of Persia, Star Trek Legacy, www.rednoteaudio.com)- all which have really inspired me to become a game/film composer and/or producer. I am currently enrolled at Western Carolina music school and hope that my experiences here will help me pursue a career in music.
