Thanks for reviewing Red Dress. It's my belief, and I'm not alone in this, that not every song needs a "hook". One of the really cool aspects of living in Nashville is that every once in a while you run into some successful, well-known writers at writer's nights. It's possible, by keeping your eyes and ears open, to gain considerable insight into writing and the music biz in general. I believe that a song is a conversation, and that when I'm done speaking my part, I stop talking. This method doesn't always include a "hook". The line " a warning label, should be part of the design, nothing safe could ever look so fine" works in this respect. It was also inspired by a real life experience. On another note, I see that you're from Madison, WI. I'm a "cheesehead", born in Portage, raised on a farm outside of Rio. I've traveled around the country a bit, and my fellow Wisconsinites are still my favorite people. Know any good Ollie and Sven jokes?
