hmmm..you called Twenty Minute Girlfriend "brilliant writing" (your words) but gave it a 2/5 overall? makes no sense to me.
Hey, yeah the writting was amazing, I just felt the recording quality,the arrangment took away a lot from the final product. in hindsight 2/5 was was way too critical and I do apologise, will pop on your page and have another listen
the arrangement was meant to be sparse; like 4 guys on a street corner, busking. Everyone seems to be stuck in a box as far as arrangements go! You need guitar, you need this, you need that...why? Be daring! Do something different! As for being commercial, Couldn't care less. i hear commercial every day, and in my opinion most of it is mindless crap.
