Hi John, Just reviewed your song The Right People. Liked the song but marked it down on recording etc, sorry about that. I'm impressed with the standard of your writing. I see you are from the UK and had some success so very well done and I wish you well for the future. I'm from Leeds so it's nice to see a UK guy having success. Joe Stewart

John, you just reviewed my song WHAT ARE WE DOING TONIGHT? Pretty good review. That was done by Paramount. Just thought you would want to know that. Thanks for your tip sheet. I'm not going to spend much money on websites anymore. Have to look it over again. Thanks. Sylvia

Yes Sylvia I saw it was you after I'd reviewed it. Not surprised it was another good one. I'm definitely going to give Paramount a try. Thanks for the list you sent me - some new ones I didn't know about. But I know what you're saying about all these music websites. You can spend a fortune and the danger is you spend too much time on reading instead of 'doing.' Better to just do it I think. Good luck. John

Hi Milly....thanks for taking the time to review - and for your positive remarks on our song "Losing My Mind" a week or so ago. We are in the process of tweaking a thing or two on that. I listened to your song "Walk on By" - that's just a mighty fine tune. Best of luck here on Broadjam and elsewhere!

Milly, Thank you for your very kind review of my song Dear Bridie. It was written for a dear Irish friend who lost her fight against the 'Big C.' I promised that all royalties from the song would go towards Cancer Research & McMillan Nurses - sadly it has never earned any ! I can't get anyone interested in the song. Your comments have reaffirmed my faith in it. Good luck to you. John.

John, thanks for the review of "Caramel And Cream". Sorry you didn't like the synth horns, but they're all I've got and the recording is just a
demo. What is "slightly indistinct" in the lyrics? I'm always rewriting and can always use new input.

Thanks again, Bill

Slightly indistinct = hard to hear/understand. Unclear.
I totally understand about the horns Bill. Sadly we can only work with whay we've got. A full orchestra would be nice. Good Luck.

"I'm past doing those things."??? I think you may have misunderstood my review. You sound great to me. I've listened to some of your other songs too - they sound just as good. To my ears - you've got it. You should be out there for everyone to hear. When I said I could hear a big name singing the song - I just meant it was that good. I've just given you a big up on Twitter too. Good Luck.

John, thanks so much. I saw you twitter tweet. And I replied that unfortunately I'm the lyricist. You can credit the studios with giving me great vocalists. But I appreciate your comment. Good luck to you. Sylvia

Author

Understood. But it's still a great lyric. I'm a lyricist & I wish I'd written that. You should push that song very hard - are you looking for 'covers'? That's what I do and it's a long hard job. Who is the studio/girl - I'd like to use her myself.

Author
SYLVIA SEMEL

No, i'm not pushing for covers. They don't let anyone know who the vocalists are but if you want the studio name I can give it to you.

Yes please Sylvia - if you don't mind. I'm always looking for good studios. This one is getting some excellent feedback and looks very good www.StudioPros.com
But I'm genuinely puzzled about what you do with your superb songs if you're not trying to get them out there and have people sing them. I've listened to more of them and they are better than a lot of known singers in the charts. I love them.

I see you use StudioPros in LA. I've recently discovered them via a Bulletin Board mention on the website Hoozik. They seem excellent. I'm thinking of using them for some of my songs but being in England I'd have to hand over to them 100% to interpret the song as I want. Risky - but they seem very good.

With How Do You Do That, Studio Pros took our original as the reference track and stayed pretty close to our original in style but improved the performance immensely! You can produce the song from England and make clear what you want.

Hello. Many thanks for the positive comments for my song Honey Man. It was co-written with the singer Maayan Amitov who found me right here on Broadjam. We now have two pretty good songs and another one on the way.
I understand about your song being on here for twelve years. I've got lots of old ones that I should delete - but it's a bit like putting to sleep a faithful old pet. Or is that just me ?
I've just listened to and rated your excellent song How Do You Do That. Loved it. A good 'foot tapper' and very clever lyric. I bet the Canadians will love it. Great singer again too. And written by an English woman ! Nice one.
Oh and excellent sound recording. Don't know what happened to the one I reviewed !!
Good Luck and much success in 2013. John.

Hi John,
Turns out you have just reviewed one of our songs and found it to be distorted and scratchy. Perhaps you should consider that there was an internet problem as the song was professionally recorded and mastered and sounds very silky this side of the world! Having said that, the song should not still be on the review list as it was written twelve years ago!!

Myself (John Read) & Stopher Secher are songwriters who met via Broadjam. We wrote some excellent songs together and were contacted by singer & Broadjam member; Isaac Angel. He has since recorded several of our songs, FOREVER; & Album Title track; BODY MOVES. Both songs are extremely popular on the San Francisco Club Scene for Isaac. Now, Isaac has just been told that Body Moves is being played on US Airways in flight Hit List. (Roberta Flack discovered Killing Me Softly while flying across USA - so you just never know who's listening.) A successful meeting of writers & artist via Broadjam. Thanks for your review of my song; 'Hands' which was pretty much my own view too.
I also agree 100% with your standpoint on the problem of giving honest reviews.
I have had quite a few very unpleasant e.mails from people on here who cannot accept an honest constructive review in the spirit it was given.
But now we have a new twist. There is a guy on here who just seems to be flooding everyone with 50/50 reviews containing all the same 'praise'. Utterly pointless.

Thanks. We also received a lot of emails from people who thought we should have given them higher ranking. We were at a point to where we stopped commenting and then we decided that wasn't fair to people like ourselves who appreciate honesty. So we decided that we could comment and let people get upset or we could review ONLY songs we liked and for the ones we didn't like, we'd just cancel out of the review. We decided to review all songs and so far it has done well.

Joe, Thanks for your posititve review of my song Dear Bridie. I thought you were being sarcastic at first - I've never had such a glowing review for any of my songs !
Sadly, it was written about a dear Irish friend of mine a week after her funeral. (cancer.) She left behind a young son. I promised to split any royalties between the boy and Cancer research - but it has never earned any !
Thanks again. John

thank you for your review of my tune. it was written to be a good melody and to appeal to women who are in a long term relationship and would like to hear about long term love. it wasn't written for children. and, it's always in tune. but, it is mor like 90 percent of the world. it was not written or performed to be hip and now for the kids. your stuff is professional and aimed and i can see why you have had success. thanks again and good luck.
