Annah,

Got a chance to listen to your work. My favorite: "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea". It makes me think of Quentin Tarantino movies. It's raw and emotive.

You have a unique vocal delivery that has the potential of becoming a signature sound. Work on your phrasing (Think Frank Sinatra), and just have fun experimenting with different intonations (tone, pitch. Think of the way Miles Davis played his trumpet). I'm sure that you'll have no problem developing it into something awesome.

Good going!

Yuri

Thank you, Yuri! I think I need voice lessons, but am flattered by your words. And I agree with you on Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea. If you know Mr. Tarantino, please push it his way. :)

Peace and best of luck,
Annah

Char, this song is absolutely wonderful and quite possibly perfect. There is something wrong with the world if it cannot embrace the beauty of this song. It makes me sad to see that you haven't gotten more plays. Keep your hopes up because there are people like me who love your work. So much so that I looked it up just based on the lyrics after peer reviewing it for one of the contests. Good luck!

You are very kind to take the time to write me this note... After many years of sitting on the bench, I just decided to just send songs out into the universe... They will fall and take root where they will... Or not... Since you are a writer, you know that in the end, it is all about the story that keeps you awake until it is told. Your words brought great encouragement...may blessings flow richly to and through you... Peace, Char

Thank you, Char! I wish you the same. Your words are wise. Even though I know it's a blessing to be chosen by a song as its manifester, it's hard to not let my ego get caught up in the process-. But I think the only way is to confront the ego when both bad and good news comes and then, hopefully, it will gradually fade or evolve into something better. I hope your songs soar into the atmosphere for all the world to hear.

Peace and best wishes,
Annah

Thanks so much for taking the time to review "Farewell My Love". You have offered some great insight and suggestions.

The instrument sound was an experiment, a hybrid of guitar and harp and you're right. I've also felt that it's a bit too grating. I'll have to work on that.

Great school, Berklee. Good luck!

Pretty sure I'll be listening to your songs for a while--especially when I need to relax a little. I'm a William Ackerman fan and this definitely speaks to me. Great songwriting! You have a gift.

John, this is a lovely song. The beginning really draws you in and your playing style is just right for the song. I also love that the inspiration for this song was ecology and not, as is too often the case with me, personal drama. Really awesome stuff.
