Cathy Wood is a singer-songwriter known for her deep lyrics and the ethereal quality of her voice. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she developed a love of music from hearing her mother, who was a professional soprano soloist and pianist, practice at home. She began with piano lessons and moved on to play clarinet for 7 years with orchestras and bands in the public school system. From there, she began to write poetry and play guitar, which eventually evolved into songwriting. She gathered up the best of her songs and recorded them on her debut album Journey of the Soul. She was a finalist for the Lilith Fair Acoustic Talent Search (1999), having been one of 25 contestants out of 250 artist submissions, and has had one of her songs ranked in the Top 10 Minnesota category on Broadjam.com.
