Cathy Wood is a singer-songwriter known for her deep lyrics and the ethereal quality of her voice. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she developed a love of music from hearing her mother, who was a professional soprano soloist and a pianist, practice at home. Cathy took piano lessons and played clarinet for 7 years with orchestras and bands in the public school system. From there, she began to write poetry and play guitar, which eventually evolved into songwriting. Her debut album Journey of the Soul earned her a place as a finalist for the Lilith Fair Acoustic Talent Search and has had one of her songs (Across the Great Seas) ranked in the Top 10 Minnesota category on Broadjam.com. In 2025, two of Cathy's songs (Planet of Pain and The Beat of My Heart) were featured on the Women of Substance Music Podcast.
