At Buttah Sopht Entertainment, music is more than just our livelihood; it’s our first love and our life-force, the essence of who we are and who we represent. Buttah Sopht Entertainment is Record label which includes both management and production services. We also have Major Distribution in place. We represent male and female solo artists and groups of all ethnic backgrounds. We take the time to develop our artists as performers and human beings. Buttah Sopht Entertainment is the brainchild of Rick Green. Born and raised in Mount Vernon NY, Rick attended the same schools as a variety of artists such as Heavy D, P-Diddy, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Talent the Comedian, Jeff Redd and Al B Sure. Rick’s father was a jazz musician, and from a very early age, music was a constant companion and influence on his life. Rick studied film and computer science at Mount Vernon High School, then attended college in ATL which is where he met Dallas Austin and Jermaine Dupree and started getting heavily into promotion. ATL is also where Rick established a hip hop group, opening up for A Tribe Called Quest and making live in-studio appearances on ATL’s hottest hip hop station. In 1995, Rick formed Buttah Sopht Entertainment and connected with platinum songwriters and producers Gordon Chambers & Dave"Jam" Hall, and they helped him develop a number of groups. At that time, Rick also came to know a gentleman named Jeff Robinson, who was starting a new company called MBK Ent and who now manages Alicia Keys. Not too long ago, Rick connected with Sincere Rawlings & Malik Shaheed of the Orangemenz Music Group who already had a major distribution deal in place. They signed Buttah Sopht’s artist Cleazy and they vibed so well that they offered Rick a partnership. So with all of his resources and connections and a new venture with The Hittmenn DJs, Rick and his partners are about to change the game! Buttah Sopht currently represents such up-and-coming young talents as hip-hop artist "Cleazy", R&B artist Aren B and vocalist Eryn Kelly. We are also looking for producers and musicians with their own flava (hip-hop, R&B, pop, rock, etc.) We’re in the process of developing/producing Screen PLays & off-Broadway plays, so we’re on the look-out for talented screen writers, playwrights and actors. If you’re looking to promote an event, we provide that service as well. Buttah Sopht Entertainment also features the talents of a New Rochelle-based musical production team, The Monkey Boyz. From producing the track to writing the lyrics, Barry, Carl and Mike combine their talents to create an eclectic, unique sound. Using mostly live instrumentation mixed with a little synth, The Monkey Boyz make emotional rhythms that cross different genres of music. Because of Barry & Rick’s childhood & new found business relationship they are Forming a New record Label with Global distribution..(summer 08’) At Buttah Sopht, we believe that it’s important not to compromise who you are for the all mighty dollar.
