Thanks for the review of "Big Dog, Little Dog". I'm wondering about your rating of the recording, instrumention etc....after all, Michael Creber (k.d. Lang, The Rankins) produced and played keyboards, Hugh MacMillan of (Spirit of the West ) played bass courtesy of Warner Brothers, Wayne Kozak (Tina Turner, Brian Adams) was on sax, etc. etc. for the mucisians. I don't care if you don't like my tune or lyrics, but surely I'd have to say you missed the boat on other points. Enjoy the weekend!

I'll listen to it again. I thought the song was technically very good and I must admit the process of anonymous rating in this category ( general blues) left something to be desired. I had listened to quite a few songs previous that didn't fit the definition of blues and was frustrated at some of the selections that popped up and had no idea how they placed them in categories. I worked as a pro recording engineer at several large studios and had high expectations from this site. I am the last person to not be supportive of my fellow artists usually. So thanks for the civil reply and I'll do better now that I know the lay of the land. Keep on creating and being productive. Sincerely , Dave Simpson

Thanks Dave....this whole rating system is difficult to learn....as an experienced Brodajammer said, "act like the song is your own" when you review it". That said, I changed tack a bit myself and started steering in a different review light.

As for classifying songs...ay yi yi yi yi! That's a tough one. I get told Big Dog should be in coutnry, others say it should be folk, others think blues is fine (because of the chord progression)....don't know.
When I first starting reviewing a lot of crap (to me) came up and I coudln't give a fair rating till the Broadjam friend gave me that advise....and the same songs that I hit 'stop' on to avoid kept popping up so I figured I had to bite the bullet somehow and set my mind differently. Still, it's hard sometimes.

At any rate, no prob on a civil reply....we're all in this music game together!!!

Yea, this is better... Not exactly mainstream blues but love it as a Christian childrens song.... maybe good for a Christian cartoon show. Are there any of those on anymore... Like Davey and Goliath ? (claymation)

I don't know; I don't watch TV. The part the kids like best is the chicken liver line. They call it the chicken liver song. (I do a lot of work w/ kids). Mrs. Kate
