Autumnal, a project of singer songwriter Richard Besley, emerged in 2003 as a four piece new folk act on the Melbourne roots scene. In recent years, however, it has been defined by a collaboration between Besley and multi-instrumentalist producer Wez Prictor, as the folk instrumentation has given way to a rockier vibe.

Autumnal released its debut LP, The Your Elfin Foot LP in 2006. A gang of Melbourne's finest classical, jazz and pop musicians got involved over the marathon 3 year recording process at Altantis Recording. Engineered and co-produced by David McCluney (Nick Cave, Vika and Linda, Things of Stone and Wood, Dan Brodie), Your Elfin Foot is a collection of beautiful folk inspired songs, from the percussion driven groove of the title track to the exquisitely delicate ballads of Ache and Warship. Moving and personal, Besley's heartfelt lyrics rest on a lush arrangement of violins, marimba's, harmoniums and mandolins with a few hooks and grooves thrown in by the pop meisters.
