Song Description

A song about joining a gypsie group on a cold dark night while a mysterious woman dances around the campfire. Ahhhhh... and to be set free...

Story Behind the Song

Idea was sparked by the Mystery Setting of Neil Diamonds' song, "Brother Love". It would be a good song for Neil...If I can only get it to him.

Lyrics

When the Autumn Night Turns
Dark and Gloomy
And Magic Fills The Sky
You Can Hear Them Laughen'
And She Is Dancin'
The One With the Cold Dark Eyes

Her Smile Is Bright, Her Hair Hangs Free
Her Clothes are Ragged and Torn
But by the Firelight She Calls Your Name
While the Wine Makes Your
Mind Feel Warm

Come and Join the Gypsies
Run Away with Me
Come and Join the Gypsies
We Can Set You Free

So I Followed Her in That Broken Wagon
I Left My Life Behind
And in Every Town Along the Way
She Danced for Nickels and Dimes

And Around My Waist Is a Tattered Ribbon
The One She Gave to Me
By the Firelight, on a Cold Dark Night
On The Day That She Set Me Free

Come and Join the Gypsies
Run Away with Me
Come and Join the Gypsies
We Can Set You Free

Now the Chance for You
Is Waiting Too
So Come We'll Take Your Hand
And by the Firelight on a Cold Dark Night
I Think You'll Understand

Come and Join the Gypsies
Run Away with Me
Come and Join the Gypsies
We Can Set You Free

Come and Join the Gypsies
It's Our Family
Come and Join the Gypsies
We Can Set You Free

Come and Join the Gypsies
Run Away with Me
Come and Join the Gypsies
We Can Set You Free
We Can Set You Free
We Can Set...
We'll You Free
