Dewclaw is an alternative indie rock band that started between four friends (Kris, Justice, Brett, Justin) near Fennimore, Wisconsin in Kris' parents' basement in the summer of 2024. Dewclaw has played shows in Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin, including Battle of the Bands '25 in Sun Prairie, WI; and Sad Moth Music Fest (2025) in Cross Plains, WI.

Dewclaw released a self-titled EP of demos May 3, 2025 - lead vocals by Kris; guitar and backup vocals by Justice; drums by Brett; and standing in for bass is a fellow musician and good friend, Michael.

When Dewclaw became full band, it was out of a desire to make great songs into a powerful listening experience, by friends who had been playing music together for nearly a decade.

Like a curse, as we were travelling in preparation to record music for Dewclaw, our best friends and beloved bandmates, Kristen and Justin, were in an automobile accident on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. It isn’t right and we could never understand it, but Kristen passed on that morning.
Kris' performances were hauntingly beautiful and seemingly effortless. We are dedicated to honoring Kristen and her music. For Kris. Dewclaw Forever.
