The grizzled, earthy brilliance of the Bleu Collar Pirates' debut album "Going Coastal", produced by lead singer/guitarist/songwriter Justus Conant and hit producer/engineer Robert Sherwood at Dragonfly Studios in Cummington Mass, sailed into the iTunes Alternative Top 100 on the day of its release. This is some no-miss shit, the diesel-perfumed offspring of Tom Waits and Neil Young.

Producer/engineer/multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Robert Sherwood has been stumbling around the recording industry in various guises since the late 1980's. First with his neopsychedelic punk rock band The Malarians, who ruled Western Massachusetts during the heyday of the Paisley Underground, scoring college hits and releasing 2 albums and an EP on their indie label Chunk as well as with Rhino. A move to Los Angeles in 1993 brought about the formation of his progressive space rock/R&B power trio fiction, an act that toured like dogs until scoring two national top 40 radio hits in '99 and 2000 with their tracks "I Could Cry" and "Love Reaches Out". Robert has also recorded sessions for Sire, Warner Brothers, Kinetic and many more and more recently pre-produced and played drums for British indie artist Jont on his album "An Old Innocence", recorded at legendary Hotel2Tango Studios in Montreal under the production of Arcade Fire's Howard Bilerman. A stint as roadie for Jane's Addiction as well as extensive front-of-house work round out Robert's impression of the recording industry as a "random fucking nuthouse". He is currently completing work on his recording studio "Dragonfly" in Cummington Massachusetts where Bleu Collar Pirates recorded their first album "Going Coastal" and are currently tracking the new collection "Snake Handlers and Gypsies".

Guitarist, producer and composer John Caban's unique playing style has graced performances and/or recordings with such diverse artists as Art Neville, Bo Diddley, Kenny Kirkland, Alana Davis, KJ Denhert, Neycha, Gianna Nannini, Dispatch, producer Eddie Kramer, drum 'n' bass maverick Boomish, his own band Galvanizer and many others. Blending roots deep in rock, blues, funk, R&B, experimental, ambient and world music, a rich tonal palette, lyrical sensitivity and a strong rhythmic feel combine to create his distinctive Jatmospheric guitar style.
