Hi Im Andy, been playing and writing for about thirty odd years! I wrote my first song at about 14 and managed to record a demo at 16. You have to remember it was expensive in those days to book a studio! You had to be really determined to get the money together arrange lifts, etc. Paying for rehearsal rooms was imposable, so to the anger of all musicians parents, a few hours of practice were snatched here and there from each others bedrooms. Always including a full drum kit! That first band "The Facts Remain", Martin Cooper on guitar, Neil O'sullivan on bass, Jonny Drew on Drums, myself on vocals and rhythm. We all started work, bought a van rehearsed three times a week and played all the fashionable gigs at the time around London, even though we were all still 16/17.
