Alphy Nics

Singer, Born Alphonso Richard Nichols on July 31, 1988, in Richland, Washington. Alphonso was the youngest of 7 children who was always the quiet one. He grew up in a musically inclined family and for years, he followed in his brothers footsteps trying to learn everything he could about singing. At the tender age of 5, his interest in music was more to himself and hidden from his family. While his father would practice singing the oldies of Motown, young Alphonso would be in the back mimicking every sound to precision. He idolized Michael Jackson and for years hid away in his room practicing MJ's songs. When Alphonso was 10 years old, in time for him to begin his first year of Middle School, his love for music was no longer a secret. He joined his Church Choir and his School Choir as well. It didn't take long for the teachers to notice his unique voice peaking through the bundle.

Although Alphonso's family didn't have extra money to spend on music lessons and equipment, his father took a very stern route to make sure he was on top of his craft. He would make Alphonso earn every privilege by singing songs or learning a song of his father's choice. By the age of 11 his father knew Alphonso was ready to show case his talents, so his father placed him in various competitions to prove his singing ability. He won 1st place at all shows except for one when he was 13, but ironically to Alphonso, it is the one he remembers and holds on to the most. "That day I really figured out who I was and what I wanted to be" he says, and since that day he has striven to be the best at what he loves.

At the age of 15 he began to write and record his own music. The long hours and concentration he would put into his work impressed his mother and father. His mother recalls late summer nights hearing him downstairs singing into their karaoke tape recorder sun down to sun up. Becoming popular with the locals, he met up with a group of 3 guys who rapped and included Alphonso as their 4th member who could sing. The members later formed and became the group Black House and gave Alphonso an alias; Alphy Nics. At his friends' insistence, they joined the city's largest Talent Show, and shocked the town by winning their title best of show.

By age 17 Alphy Nics went on a journey to find himself as an artist. He attended his local College and joined the Jazz choir for 2 years. He learned a lot about music that he did not imagine possible, which excited him to push his craft to the next level.

In 2010 he put his best work over the years together started recording his album title the "Journal with his new label Dirty Gates Entertainment.

After signing with Dirty Gates, Alphy Nics has gone on to open up for great artists like Genuine, Hurricane Chris, Twista, and Naughty by Nature. After dropping his hit single "Selfish", recording companies are showing interest in Alphy and radio stations are playing his song. Alphy has just shot his second video which will be released in the summer of 2011.
