In 1954, shortly after the first antenna array had been completed in New Mexico, a deep space transmission was captured. For a brief 23 minutes, music from another planet was heard and recorded! The planet was named Gath. The recording is presented here in it's entirety. The government was able to triangulate the source of the transmission and a musical response was broadcast. The planet Gath should have received that transmission sometime last year and I'm sure they, like us, are somewhat puzzled by the music sent: Beethoven's 5th, a Bach cantata, song recordings of Frank Sinatra and Elvis. Perhaps we'll hear back from them soon.
