Michael Sheffield is an eclectic acoustic and electric guitarist and singer-songwriter. In his early years his major influences include Peter, Paul and Mary, The Who, Kinks, and most centrally, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, and Cat Stevens, and James Taylor. These were joined later by artists such as Bob Marley, Dire Straits, Richard Thompson, and especially, Canadian icon Bruce Cockburn. In recent years he's found himself increasingly drawn to the early string band folk-swing highbreds ike Martin Bogen and Armstrong, popularized in recent decades by folks like Dan Hicks, Leon Redbone, Andrew Bird, and the little known but legendary Dan Sadowsky and the Ophelia Swing Band. Michael still very much endorses the musical values embraced by most all of his heroes - that the three minute pop song can be a downright spiritual endeavor , whether its Cole Porter or Porter Waggoner, the Lennon SIsters or John Lennon, Richard Rogers or Keith Richards.
