Christopher Olsen a.k.a. NOTES formerly known as C.NOTES, was born June 7th 1985 in the city of Long Beach, California. NOTES cultural makeup is as diverse as his musical talents, he has relatives and lineage from the South Pacific Island of Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and America. Since birth NOTES primary residence is and has been Southern California. Considering that NOTES is a native of Long Beach, he is undoubtedly another exciting talent that is emerging out of the LB. Long Beach is a city well known not only for it’s economical importance to America’s economy and business, but as well a city of enormous contributions to the Art’s and Cultural influences of our society.
It seem that the interest for music and musical instruments were part of NOTES since a very young age. Music in the mid 80’s and 90’s was in a new transition and rebirth known as, MTV. This infusion of music and video was tremendously entertaining, very influential, and truly inspiring to NOTES and countless others. Air drums were the first instrument of preference for young NOTES, the percussion frequency’s and sound waves so moved him spiritually and creatively, that consequently he would imitate the actions that he was seeing and hearing. Before long he would replace his air set with a new and improved real drum set (Thanks MOM). Soon after the instrument list begin to grow and expand to guitars, and keyboards (Thanks Again Mom).
NOTES first experience with producing, was from a relative that he looked up to. Rico (cousin) at the time was a recognized and established producer and musician within the professional music industry. Rico taught NOTES some techniques and tricks to arrangements. Taking this new learned knowledge NOTES started to arrange his own music and tracks on his own sequencer. At the same time he was involved in a local rock band in which the guitarist of the band, had a brother who had a production company and recording studio. Phive Star Entertainment was the company and they were in search of new talent. When NOTES presented his music to them they immediately noticed his talent and started the process to bring him onboard.
It’s been five years since Phive Star and NOTES began their relationship and it’s been nothing but positive results all the time. NOTES has been in studio sessions, worked on remixes, submitted and released music on all styles of music and artist independent and major. He has worked on and with artist such as Usher, Kurupt, Lisa Lefteye Lopes, Tupac, Keith Sweat, Nappy Roots, Patty LaBelle, Santana, and Raven Simone are just a few examples of artist who seek out his talent. He has also submitted music and been courted by companies such as Arista Records , J Records, Aftermath, Shady, Universal Music, Famous Music, Edmounds Music etc.. NOTES is working his way into every facet of the music industry at this moment and looking to expand into the film and television industry. He is very excited about the possibilities of scoring music for a major film production. NOTES has the ability the versatility and diverse music knowledge to accomplish this and place his music talent on these types of projects.
