"Every composition, every song I’ve written carries a piece of my truth — moments I’ve lived, feelings I’ve buried, stories I’ve never told. But in those melodies and lyrics, you might hear echoes of your own life. If these songs touch your heart, or even shift something deep in your soul, then every note was worth it."
With all my heart — Yves Stilmant.
Yves Stilmant
Yves Stilmant is a Belgian cinematic composer inspired by the spirit of the Belgae and ancestral Europe. His work blends orchestral storytelling with historical and mythological themes, creating immersive sound worlds designed for film and narrative media.
A member of The Recording Academy (GRAMMYs) and the Film Fest Gent / World Soundtrack Awards ecosystem, Stilmant has received international recognition with top honors at the Mozart, Bach, Fenix Awards, Classical Stars and Fauré International Music Competitions. His compositions explore identity, legacy, and ancient cultures through a modern cinematic lens.
Belgian-born and based in California since 1991, Yves Stilmant is a genre-defying composer and musician whose career spans more than five decades. A true rocker at heart, he first made his mark as a guitarist and songwriter, blending raw energy with melodic precision before expanding into orchestral and cinematic composition.
Since his first professional studio sessions in 1971, Yves has collaborated with an extraordinary roster of world-class artists including The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Kim Wilson, Tommy Castro, Gregg Bissonette (Maynard Ferguson, David Lee Roth, Toto, Joe Satriani, Ringo Starr All-Star Band), Matt Bissonette (Rick Springfield, Joe Satriani, Elton John, REO Speedwagon), Bruce Conte (Tower of Power), Lydia Pense & Cold Blood, Supertramp, John Sykes (Blue Murder, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), and Peter Cor (Earth, Wind & Fire, Lee Ritenour, Hubert Laws).
Throughout his career, Yves has recorded and produced music in renowned studios across Europe and the United States including Morgan Studio, Alain Pierre Recording Studio, Studio Pyramid, ICP Studios in Belgium, Paramount Studios and Cherokee Studios in Hollywood, Ground Control Studios in Burbank, Unique Recording Studios in New York, Strangelove Productions in Los Angeles, Big Water Studios in Lake Tahoe, Sierra Sonics in Reno, and his own private studio in Lake Tahoe, California.
Alongside his country and rock legacy, Yves has developed a powerful second identity as a cinematic and orchestral composer. Inspired by masters such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, and James Horner, he creates sweeping orchestral scores, character themes, and fantasy-driven suites for albums, novels, films, and concept projects. His award-winning composition "Titan's Awakening" stands as a defining example of this evolving symphonic voice.
Deeply connected to his Belgae heritage, Yves composes historical and mythologically inspired works exploring the ancient cultures of Europe. Through projects such as Guardians of Aeduenna, Gallia Belgica, Spiritus Belgarum, Before the Crown, Hearth of the Belgae, and I Am Belgae, he seeks to revive the spirit and memory of the Celtic-Belgic tribes whose legacy helped shape early European history.
Yves Stilmant is the founder of Lumière SoundWorks, Audio Alchemy Productions, and Groove Tattoo Publishing, overseeing a catalog of more than 800 registered original works and numerous albums spanning multiple genres. He is a member of ASCAP, AES, AIMP, SCL, and ASMAC.
Recognized for his cinematic vision and storytelling through music, Yves Stilmant continues to build a body of work dedicated to narrative composition and the preservation of cultural memory through sound.
