Sounds Like If you want to step back in time and hear that yodel the way Hank William, Sr., yodeled more than 50 years ago, just listen to Johnny Miller perform Love Sick Blues and Long Gone Lonesome Blues. But when not trying to impersonate Hank, Johnny's own style is a cross between Hank Williams, Sr., George Jones, and Lefty Frizzel.

Johnny Miller The Riverside Cowb

Hello! My name is Johnny Miller. I'm a singer, I play acoustic guitar, and I love old classic country music! Since as far back as I can remember when I was crawling around and hadn't quite mastered putting one foot in front of the other, I remember my daddy playing Hank Williams, Sr., George Jones, Merle Haggard, Elvis Presley, Mel Tillis, Mel Street and Leftie Frizzel. We even have some recordings where you can hear me singing as a toddler and my daddy telling me not to touch his music equipment when he would be recording at home.

Music has always been a part of my family's life. Even our family in Denmark are big country music fans! My Aunt Lis has always written songs for special family occasions, and my Uncle Bent had one of the most extensive private Elvis music collections you've ever seen, aside from Graceland's walls. My big Brother Kenny was an awesome clarinet player until he gave it up to become a swimming pool contractor. My big Sister Kay is a very talented gospel singer, songwriter, musician, and has published and released two gospel CD's. And, of course, my Dad Orla Miller, stage name Johnny Denmark, is a very gifted singer, songwriter, musician in his own right. You can say music runs in our blood. My whole family has on many occasions sang karaoke and have tried to get the mike back from mom who sings like a sweet version of that sexy German singer Marlene Dietrich. When my Mother Jytta was in her late teens, she was voted the most beautiful girl in her hometown of Arhus.

My parents are originally from Arhus, Denmark, and made their way to Riverside, California, back in the 1960's. As long as I can remember, I have sang, yodeled, hollered, cried & whooped it up with all my heroes. While in Riverside, California, I moonlighted as a KJ for karaoke, and I sang at weddings, parties, churches, funerals, restaurants, bowling alleys, open mike bars, and anywhere else I was invited to sing or there was an audience. One of my KJ friends in the southern California area dubbed me "The Riverside Cowboy" since I came from Riverside, slurred my words like I came from the deep south, and wore a cowboy hat, and so that stage name sort of stayed with me. And since my name is Johnny Miller, like the golf player, I keep that as part of my stage presence.

Until coming to Nashville, Tennessee, in August 2004 with my Wife Elma, aside from visiting Denmark on several occasions, I had pretty much lived all my life in Riverside, California. And since I first began yodeling with Hank Williams, Sr., when I was a little boy, I have always wanted to become a part of the Nashville dream.

Since arriving in Nashville, I have sang open mikes at the Blue Bird Café, The Nashville Palace, The Preston Hotel, Tootsies, numerous bars in downtown Nashville, John A's Lounge, and the Louvin Brothers Lounge. I have also sung at some church fund raisers for pastor friends of ours, Julie & Marvin Quarles. I entered several singing contests at the Wild Horse Salon. And in 2006 my wife and I camped out over night in front of the Wild Horse Salon, and I was the 5th performer for the Nashville Star Search that day. I didn't place but it was an interesting experience, and we had great fun!

As you can tell, old classic country is my passion! It's what life is all about: Lost loves, shattered dreams and broken hearts in a smoke-filled bar with other lost souls...looking for the comfort of a shy smile and a warm body. How more real can old classic country get?

I love the thrill of singing to a crowd and touching their hearts and their souls, like good Ol' Hank Williams, Sr. He was the master of touching all hearts from all walks of life. I aspire to one day follow in his footsteps, and keep the magic of old classic country music alive.
