Lyrics--Everything Between

All that stands between you and your perfect self is indecision.
Hey: You’ll come back to your sense once again…

Remember the time when they sat you down
With a surgeon, a czar, and a circus clown
‘You can be anything, take a look around…’
Well it seems you’re looking still

That’s okay: You’ll come back to your senses once again…

Heaven is an indie film and your name is the title
The reels are spinning faster now, there’s no time to be idle
For you’ll watch your life in celluloid, relive it on the screen
Carpe diem, carpe noctem, carpe everything between

Remember the time on the ocean floor
In a world you’d dreamed of years before
Would you rather swim, or simply snore as life goes floating by?

Hey: You’ll come back to your senses once again…

Heaven is an indie film and your name is the title
The reels are spinning faster now, there’s no time to be idle
For you’ll watch your life in celluloid, relive it on the screen
Carpe diem, carpe noctem, carpe everything between

On an on and all you’re missing, time to realize your vision…

Heaven is an indie film and your name is the title
The reels are spinning faster now, there’s no time to be idle
For you’ll watch your life in celluloid, relive it on the screen
Carpe diem, carpe noctem, carpe everything between

Lyrics--FeelFine

Well I say it’s mine, this mixed-up mind, I’ll fix myself
I’m so confined within my wine, gonna burst my cell
So I taper down to drink and drown, I don’t lash out anymore
But dizzy me in misery wel my memory of pain is so poor

Pour me another, I can stand so I’m okay.
Listen to me sister I don’t need a mother
to say ‘Hey boy, you’re pushing me away…’

Feeling dull is criminal when you’re meant to shine
You give the world your only pearl, but they don’t want the shell, the slime
Heaven says c’mon get off your knees, we’re getting bored
And so I write my wrongs into my songs and hope that after I won’t feel so poor

Pour me another, I can stand so I’m okay.
Listen to me sister I don’t need a mother
to say ‘Hey boy, you’re pushing me away…’

I could sleep forever, [make] no mistake
Shaking me does not make me awake
But you say ‘this somnambulation’s getting critical, it’s pitiful

So fine, I’ll find the time to fix myself
I started out with 99 up on the wall,
now there’s just an empty shelf

My song is done, I’m down to one more chance, just one more
But you know how I hate ‘em, your ultimatums.

Pour me another, I can stand so I’m okay.
Listen to me sister I don’t need a mother
to say ‘Hey boy, you’re pushing me away…

Lyrics--Complication

My god, you’re cold. Come here…
What’s wrong? Have you been crying?
I know: you’re lost.
What’s wrong? Do I dare ask?

‘Cause I know it’s me, and I know that face
We’ve been here before, to this very place
Now you’ll say my name, and you’ll walk away
You’ll be back again, and nothing’s changed

Here’s the Complication, I just can’t say I love you
Not that I can’t feel it, it’s just that I waited for the
Perfect Time to Say It, now it’s out of proportion
Waited too long…

Well I’ve been told to fear
The Siren’s song—she could be lying…
I know the cost
So I lay down low, my tongue tied fast.

‘Cause I know it’s me, and I know that face
We’ve been here before, to this very place
Now you’ll say my name, and you’ll walk away
But you won’t be back, ‘cause something’s changed

Here’s the Complication, I just can’t say I love you
Not that I can’t feel it, it’s just that I waited for the
Perfect Time to Say It, now it’s out of proportion
Waited too long…

Band Bio

3politan Bio

3politan (pronounced tri-politan) came together when Nolan Love (vocals, guitar) Greg Russell (guitars) Darryn Graham (bass guitar) and Andre Gressieux (drums) decided that a band does not have to exist in just one city. This band claims three cities as its base; San Francisco, Baltimore and Boston.

When together, time is very precious and 3politan has to make the most of it. The band will often fly in from their respective cities to play live, record or even just to write songs. Fans of the band refer to the music as energetic and mainstream, and 3politan’s style has been compared to bands such as Coldplay, Counting Crows, Bare Naked Ladies and Maroon 5.

A quote from singer/songwriter Nolan Love…

"I use music as a journal. It has always fascinated me the way we can be emotionally transported to some time in the past immediately through a song we loved then. A recent breakup (Beck "Sea Change"), my high school dorm room (Bob Mould "Wishing Well"), the Peace Corps in Africa (Nick Drake "Pink Moon")... these are signposts along the way that allow us to retrace our
steps and see how far we've come. I try to capture the most meaningful and pivotal moments of personal growth in my own life with lyrics and harmony that will have the same effect. 3politan magnifies that experience by permitting timbral, harmonic and rhythmic dissonance, syncopation, and resolution which really broadens the emotional vocabulary. My hope in sharing the music is that the everyday themes we're dealing with will resonate with others, so these songs can serve as waypoints for them as
well."

Current news…

The band has just wrapped up recoding their first self-titled EP which was completed at Q-Division studios in Boston. The EP consists of 3 songs (Everything Between, FeelFine and Complication).

This summer, 3politan will complete a 3 city tour to promote their new EP. Dates are schedules for July and August 2005 for clubs in Baltimore, Boston and San Francisco.
