Earning comparisons to Branch and McLaughlin, Suruda’s "doing her songwriting homework. Solid, commercial, instantly memorable"- DIY Reporter. Album/Year Vocalist/Year (Seattle) Album/Year (L.A. DIY awards), finalist (Rock) USA Songwriting Comp. "She has the strength of a Jett with the minute care for how words sound that fills up a Morissette or Crow. More concerned with performance and melody than trying to make an eclectic statement, if her hungry, hoping, wanting sound isn't touched by brilliance, then neither is Madonna or Jewel. Her talent will hold its own toward stardom." – Musicdish.com. "Susan has a take-no-prisoners vocal style and crafts sharp, gripping songs. Primed for serious stardom, it boggles the mind why she isn't on a major label. Get her on FM radio & clear a wall for the platinum" - Devil in the Woods. "Susan is so lively and entertaining on radio that we had her fill in for several weeks for a full time co-host. She has a star personality!" - The Bob Rivers Show

Susan Suruda Bio

Multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Susan Suruda has received notable attention with her AAA/pop/rock and pop/country songs. Her hook-filled songwriting style, her blend of introspective and observational lyrics, dynamic melodies and textured rhythms has earned her comparisons to Annie Lennox, Michelle Branch, Sheryl Crow and Alanis Morissette. Susan has a unique sound but certainly cites these woman as influential to her. She "has clearly been doing her songwriting homework, and never met a hook she didn't like...solid, creative, commercial and instantly memorable songs..." says L.A.s DIY Reporter. Her songs have been featured on MTV Road Rules and on several compilation albums. She has also won several awards both locally and nationally, including Pop/Rock Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year (Seattle Area Music awards), Album of the Year (Los Angeles DIY awards), FEMMUSIC.com's Artist of the Year and she was a finalist in the Rock category for the song "Everything You/Everything Me" in the USA Songwriting Competition.

In April of 2006, Susan moved to Nashville, Tennessee. Since arriving, Susan has been spending her time in songwriting sessions, attending workshops, networking and studying the craft of songwriting. She was also selected to participate in the January 2007 Songwriter USA reality tv show.

In a time when most bands and performers are created in the studio, Susan is the real deal. Not only does she "bring it" to the studio but she also gives an explosive and engaging live performance (regardless of whether she's performing with a band or simply with an acoustic backdrop). This is an artist who "is not afraid to fully connect with her audience," says EMPLive.com.

"We are all victims of history. If Susan had been born 30 years earlier, she would probably have been hailed as one of rock's leading and trail-blazing women heroines. She has the strength of a Joan Jett with the minute care for how words sound that fills up an Alanis Morissette or Sheryl Crow. And that is how she manages to rock us with a folk/blues based power sound that finally takes rock away from the acoustic and puts it back nearer pop. She's more concerned with the performance and melody and clean sound than trying to make an eclectic 'statement.'...If Susan's hungry, turned-away, beaten, depressed, needing, hoping, wanting sound isn't touched by brilliance, then neither is Madonna or Jewel or the two-name fe-rockers that have conquered the world her talent will hold its own toward stardom." - Ben Ohmart (Assistant Editor), Musicdish.com

"Susan has a muscular yet feminine take-no-prisoners vocal style and crafts sharp, emotionally gripping songs. She's also a looker and backed by a strong fat-free guitar rock band. In other words, she is primed for serious AAA stardom and it boggles the mind why she isn't on a major label. Someone just get her on FM radio and clear a wall for the platinum records." - Devil in the Woods magazine

"On "Get Up, Go On", the music and lyrics build together, but in the end, it is her voice that stands out the most to the listener. "Free" showcases the pop-sensibilities that she and her band are so comfortable with catchy guitar hooks, repeated to the point that the listener can no longer stay still. Need more proof that Susan's the real thing?" - KMTT, 103.7FM The Mountain (Seattle, Washington)

"Susan is not only one of the finest singer/songwriters I've ever heard, but so lively and entertaining on the radio that we had her fill in for several weeks for a full time co-host. She has a star personality!" Bob Rivers, The Bob Rivers Show (1 morning show in Washington region) KZOK 102.5FM
