Story Behind The Song
About the ocean and being a pirate
Song Description
I had just finished walking the Camino de Santiago. I had taken a ukulele with me and was leaning up against a wall dreaming of putting my feet in the sand because they were so sore after walking that many miles. I was thinking about the ocean and I just started writing a song about being a pirate - the pirate ship kind of representing freedom, adventure, and the courage to step into the great unknown.

Lyrics
The ship rocks to the beat
In time with my heart
Watch her sway in the sun
To the rhythm of a drum
Sometimes lost I hear the song
Leading me from the wild
A melody calling to me
Like a mother to a child
Yo ho ho, row row row
Oh oh whoa
Yo ho ho, row row row
Out into the ocean
I learned to dance with the sun
& pitch the woo under the moon
Love is strong but always torn
Between a maiden & the morn
Bring the rum, the night is young
Help lift the spirits
Luck is gone, gamblin' on
Because there's no rest for the wicked
We are rabid, we are thieves
We'll tempt your pleasure
From the rock to the sea
We're just going to steal your treasure
Hold it down boys
And let her take the lead
We relieve you
Because we're pirates on the sea
Yo ho ho, row row row
Oh oh oh whoa
Yo ho ho, row row row
We're pirates on the sea
Bring the rum, the night is young
Help lift our spirit to fly
Luck is gone, gamblin' on
There's no rest for the wicked
We are rabid, we are thieves
We'll tempt all your pleasure
From the rock to the sea
We're gonna steal your treasure
Hold it down boys
& let her take the lead
We relieve you of all
Because we're pirates on the sea
Yo ho ho, row row row
Oh oh oh oh
Yo ho ho, row row row
We're pirates on the sea
