Wake Campbell is a Saxophonist who fell in love with the smooth soulful sounds of artist like Grover Washington Jr., Ronnie Laws and David Sandborn. Today Wake is wiriting his own material, while keeping the style of music which motivated him over the years in mind.
Wake grew up in the Washington DC area, and like all of the other young jazz musicians at the time he sat in a numerous clubs throughout the city. All of the sax players at the time, including Wake, were attempting to imitate Bird and Trane. Contemporary Jazz was not an option anyone chose to persure at the time. Wake Studied Jazz for a while at Howard University. He also did a Musical tour in Europe with a small group of teaches and students. When Wake got back to the DC area he hit the ground running and has never stopped. Wake put together his own band and has played with numerous other groups over the years.
