Her first cd, "Can’t Replace A Hug" is gaining airplay on radio stations throughout the U.S., Japan, Australia and Germany. The next recording project will be released in 2006.
Tomaca has opened for Lomon Andrews, Kitty Kathryn, Marion Meadows, Kool & The Gang and The Impressions and sang a televised commercial for the Jamaican Tourism Council. She will play herself in a small role in the movie "Elevators."

The sound of her name, "Tomaca" (TO-MAY-SHA), translated in Chinese means "full of sound." We like to add the word "beautiful" with that. Tomaca L. Govan is a dynamic vocalist and performer who really gets the crowd into what she's doing. Influenced by the greats - Aretha, Chaka and Ella - everywhere she goes people speak of her "amazing voice" which has been referred to as being like "soul & fire." Though this gifted voice enables her to easily sing a wide variety of styles from Opera to Jazz to R&B to Gospel to Classical (in ANY key), she focuses in the R&B genre.
Tomaca emerged as a solo artist to write and perform songs that matched her own vibe and stage energy. She created all of the songs on her first cd, "Can’t Replace A Hug" which is currently on sale and gaining airplay on radio stations throughout the world. Her next recording project will be released early 2006 and has tunes by songwriter Billy Nichols, renown bassist Taddy P. and more of Tomaca’s original works.
Tomaca’s song, "Can You Give of Yourself" is used for a national fundraising campaign for rebuilding after Katrina.
She was featured complete with interviews on 78.9 fm in Japan and on a number of radio stations in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Baltimore. She was awarded a New England Foundation for the Arts (nefa) Meet the Composer grant. Her music was favorably reviewed by a number of publications. She was selected from numerous candidates to perform at the New England Musicians Expo 2005.
