Lorie

"An outstanding voice that ranges from the intimacy of Tori Amos to the emotional power and intensity of Patsy Cline," is how one critic describes acoustic singer-songwriter Lorie Doswell.

She brings a fresh new sound to alt-country with her sweetly confident voice influenced by the likes of Sheryl Crow, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Patty Griffin. Her expression is wide-ranging, from raw and tender to playfully enchanting. Combined with her Americana and AAA-influenced songwriting, Lorie presents a unique musical touch that charms her audiences.

Her new album Dream Drivin' features seven original songs that are definitive examples of her comforting melodies and introspective lyrics. Before it was even recorded, the title track had already garnered Lorie a Top Ten spot in the highly respected Durango Expo Songwriting Contest.

With a mother humming along to country radio and a father crooning standards, it was probably inevitable that Lorie would be musically inclined. The big question was how it would manifest itself. Her first public performance at age nine marked the beginning of her journey to become a solo artist.

After traveling a path of many twists and turns with stints in numerous bands spanning many genres including jazz, classical and R&B--and even a few musicals--Lorie finally found her home in the acoustic singer/songwriter world. For her songwriting, she draws from her strong curiosity of the human condition and the complexity of people and their relationships.

Lorie has performed through-out the U.S. as well as internationally. Currently, she is performing locally in Southern California venues while planning her next regional tour.
