Bio

My name is Kevin L. Jones. "KJ" is what my friends call me. I relocated to Atlanta Georgia several years ago from Memphis, Tennessee to pursue my goals in music and in life

At this time I have released my debut album entitlted "A Place Of Solitude". It is Smooth Jazz with soulful R&B flavor. When not promoting, marketing and distributing this project locally, and internationally with Chris Springer of The Springtime Entertainment Group I am recording tracks for the next Album and recruiting artists that have an interest in contributing. The next effort is due out this summer. Currently "I Suppose" from the album is receiving airplay in England, KSBR in Los Angeles, and WQCD in New York. Hopefully adding Amsterdam to the growing list soon!

I compose, arrange, perform, and produce Smooth Jazz, NuJazz, and R&B music. I play all of the instruments in my works which include singing lead and background vocals. I received an award in school for "Best Jazz Drummer". I attended the "All West" competitions. I was the bassist for the local Memphis jazz groups "Eclectic" and "Seraphim", and numerous Gospel groups in Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Georgia.

Chris Springer has been instrumental in moving this project forward from a business management standpoint. He is also an awesome friend first that inspires with his cool personality and communication skills. His company is The Springtime Entertainment Group. My wife is also a constant inspiration that keeps me going with support and encouragement. I have also dedicated "Love Child..." a song on my recent album to my son Christian.

The plan is to shop this project, and the next finished projects to major record labels that have the resources to put together tours. And to squeeze these projects for their full potential.

Influences:
My favorite band director in the world Mr. Kurl McKinney, Stanley Clark, The Reddings, Marcus Miller (David Sanborn's "Run for Cover" was the first solo on bass by Marcus Miller that I heard and it hooked me on bass!) Stanley Jordan, Earl Klugh (melodic expression is Awesome!) , John Patitucci , George Duke (I learned a lot from his playing/composing), Brian Bromberg's tapping style and melodic expression, Kirk Whalum's soulful sax playing, Art Porter's beautiful long tones , Grover Washington Jr., Steve Cole on Soprano, etc.
