Darrin Pfeiffer, best known for his drumming with Platinum pop-punk band Goldfinger, has launched his own record label, High 4 Records. Pfeiffer, who says he'd sleep with Wayne Gretzky if he had the chance, moved to Toronto after he met his wife Vicky, who used to work as a publicist for the band for what is now Universal Music Canada.

Darrin Pfeiffer's High 4 Records

Darrin Pfeiffer, best known for his drumming with Platinum pop-punk band Goldfinger, has launched his own record label, High 4 Records. Pfeiffer, who says he'd sleep with Wayne Gretzky if he had the chance, moved to Toronto after he met his wife Vicky, who used to work as a publicist for the band for what is now Universal Music Canada.

Together, they've formed High 4 Records to promote fresh Canadian talent and be involved in the music scene from a different angle. Starting a label was not an easy decision," says Pfeiffer. "But after being a recording and touring musician for 15 years, and having seen the artist perspective of the music business, I wanted to start a label which has real passion for what we are signing and wanting to give young bands a fair shot at success."

About the labels first two acts: Cauterize, a power-pop band from Oshawa, Ontario; and Toronto's Crush Luther. Cauterize released their third album, Disguises, in June of 2007. Crush Luther record their self-titled debut at Toronto' Pocket Studios and released the album in February of 2007, they are currently promoting their second release on the label called Some People Have No Good To Give which was released physically on Oct. 13th 2009. Previous to the physical release date, the album was released as a PAY WHAT YOU CAN format on Sept. 29th 2009 for a 2 week promotion.

Pfeiffer, who believes Canada has the greatest music scene in the world, came up with the name for the label after hearing that Crush Luther's singer gave high fours instead of high fives as a greeting. It's also a Simpsons "high 5" as they only have 4 fingers.
