Biography

G. Edwin Craig started playing music at the age of 9, when he began taking piano lessons from a blind teacher. When he reached the sixth grade he enrolled in concert band at Athens Middle School, playing the trumpet. At the age of 14 he took up the bass guitar and began playing in local garage bands with his schoolmates. When reaching high school, his band director talked him into joining the jazz band which he stayed with for 3 years and ultimately winning a seat in the All State Jazz Band his senior year. Throughout his high school years he changed brass instruments every year, playing trumpet, french horn, baritone and tuba, while performing in concert and marching bands. After graduating G. Edwin went to Florida College where he majored in performing arts and The University of North Alabama where he majored in double bass. He enrolled at Calhoun Community College studying classical guitar and sound engineering. Having a well rounded education in music, he set forth as a professional musician, touring around the United States and starting in 2003, touring internationally also. Since going into the business in 1984, he has played with numerous bands and artists and has played many different styles as well. Some of the better known artists he has performed with are Percy Sledge, Razzy Bailey, Tommy Tutone, and Clay McClinton (Delbert's youngest son). In 2004, Gary had the opportunity to play for our troops overseas during Operation Northern Watch with a rock group called Geneva. In the last several years, Gary has concentrated on honing his skills in the studio doing his own engineering and mastering for the music he writes in media production, such as film and television. He has written themes for T.V. 43 in Decatur Alabama, has written commercial jingles for E.L.M.S. Productions in Nashville and has worked in conjunction with Media Works L.L.C. in Birmingham. Whatever the need for music may be, G. Edwin Craig will give 100% to make sure you have the music you need.
