Bio

Lanette Stamper is a singer/songwriter based in the Washington, D.C. area. She has been writing for 8 years and singing for much of her life. Raised in a musical family, her father, a musician/writer filled her childhood with the sounds of great artists like Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, and Commissioned. Lanette started off her musical journey in church choirs and thinking she would be an MC.

Lanette always knew that she was born to write and loved to do so, whether it was a story, poem, or essay. Still, she did not realize how easily this love combined with her musical inclination would work so well together. Lanette began to seriously pursue writing songs in college when her brother, an artist/producer gave her one of his tracks. The rest is history.

Since those early college days, Lanette has gained priceless experience. She has worked as a writer and session vocalist in numerous studios including the home of producer James Poyser (D’Angelo, The Roots) Axis Music Group. She has also traveled with well-known gospel hip hop artist Da T.R.U.T.H. providing backing vocals.

In 2001 one of Lanette's songs was included on Grammy-winning gospel group, Out of Eden's release, "This is Your Life". In addition, 2 of Lanette’s songs have been included on the BIU 2004 release, “Change.” Lanette is always working on new projects and one of her songs will be included on an up and coming Motown artist’s debut.
