JSB Biography

"... There is much promise to this increasingly popular band - their music acts like a vehicle - driving upwards and gliding in high gear and on cue at any given moment, they turn on the thrusters and explode into uncharted musical territory." Exclaim Magazine

JSB have been forging their own path in Canadian Music for the past six years. During this time their energetic and improvisational live show has helped them develop a cult-like following throughout the country. They have played an average of 150 shows per year in clubs and at festivals across North America, adding to their loyal fan base with each tour.

Based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, JSB consists of Craig Mercer on guitar, vocals, and effects, Aaron Collier on keyboards and effects, Mike MacDougall on bass, and Nick Wombolt on drums. Half of JSBís repertoire consists of organic instrumental material, while the other half displays mature songwriting, powerful vocals, and memorable melodies within the framework of concise arrangements. Their influences range from Daft Punk to Pink Floyd to Pearl Jam and Guns and Roses, and they meld aspects of these sounds together to create an original sound which critics and fans alike have referred to as Rocktronica.

JSB release their highly anticipated third studio album, Weight of the World, on November 28th. The album showcases JSBís rock and roll side, a side commonly overlooked in a band commonly associated with the improvisational ìjam-bandî scene in North America. The addition of drummer Nick Wombolt in the spring of 2005 introduced a driving rock feel to the new material, helping to shape the heavier sound of Weight of the World.

"I am pretty sure that after hearing this record nobody will ever think of us as a typical jam-band againî, says Mercer. ìIt is a rock record through and through ñ but it still sounds like JSB and will still appeal to our fans."

JSB embark on a maritime tour in December and a nation-wide tour in January of 2007 to support the new release. A video for the album's first single, Turnaround, will be released in early December.
