Story Behind The Song
There was a bar in Dana Point, CA that the song was written about though it was not called Phil's Place. We did however discover a Phil's Place in a town further south (Carlsbad, CA) a few years later.

Lyrics
Phil?s Place 1996 Michael B. Carlisle
INTRO:
V1:
On a corner, on the south side of town
There?s a bar, that everyone goes to.
Not much to look at, it?s kinda? run down
But the girls, are all very pretty.
In the corner there?s a rock and roll band
Makin? music from nine to two AM.
It?s a little loud, and there?s no room to dance
But they say, that Dylan once played there ya.
Chorus:
Oo, down at Phil?s Place ya.
Wow, oh, oh meet me at Phil?s Place ya
V2:
Friday nights and holidays
You can hardly find a place to stand.
Young lovers and lifelong friends
Makin? plans, and talkin? politics.
And in the corner the band plays on
Three cord, rock and roll.
And as you look around the room, you gotta? wonder,
would matter if they played at all
Chorus:
Oo, down at Phil?s Place ya.
Wow, oh, oh meet me at Phil?s Place ya
