Lyrics
Memory Lane
Packed up my old Chevy
With the clothes
That were on my back
Made a vow to the moon and stars
That I won't be coming back
She (He) hasn't shown that she (He) loves me
In all these years
Stepped on the throttle
Waved goodbye and shifted gears
Chorus:
Now I'm driving this lonesome highway
Trying not to think about you
But up ahead there's a detour sign
To Heartbreak Avenue
So I took a turn to change my course
And help to ease the pain
But as of luck would have it
I turned down Memory Lane
Pulled over on a dead end street
To take a rest and have a smoke
And I was thinking to myself
Is this for real or just a joke
Took a walk down the Trail of Tears
To see what it would hold
Hopped back into my truck
Turned the key and hit the road
Chorus:
Now I'm driving this lonesome highway
Trying not to think about you
But up ahead there's a detour sign
To Heartbreak Avenue
So I took a turn to change my course
And help to ease the pain
But as of luck would have it
I turned down Memory Lane
Ya, I
Pulled off of that lonesome road
As the tears they fell like rain
But as of luck would have it
I turned down Memory Lane
