Lyrics

There are many unsung heroes unheard of in their time.
They are called to serve their country, leaving family behind.
Though we are forever grateful, but don't remember all they've done,
Yet they paid the final price, with their life a sacrifice,
our freedom's in their hands

A little girl named Sarah and her daddy liked to play
in the park on the playground every bright and sunny day,
Every day her daddy'd tell her, "Little Sarah, I love you,
You are Daddy's little girl, there is nothing in this world,
that brings me joy the way you do."

Little Sarah, how she loved her daddy's hugs and I love you's
how he'd read to her each evening from a book called Good Night, Moon.
Then she'd say her evening prayers and he'd tuck her into bed,
and she'd thank her Dad in Heaven for her daddy here on earth.

One day he came to tell her, "Little Sarah, I must go,
far away to serve my country, when I'll return, I do not know.
Now Sarah, be a brave girl, and remember I love you,
God will keep you in His Hand, please, Sarah, try to understand,
this is something I must do."

Little Sarah, how she loved her daddy's hugs and I love you's
how he'd read to her each evening from a book called Good Night, Moon.
Now as she said her evening prayers and Mommy tucked her into bed,
she whispered, "Daddy, how I love you and remember all you said."

One early cloudy morning, a messenger arrived,
he told them Daddy was a hero, to save another he had died.
With military honors, he was laid to final rest,
then the sky began to cry, and in the rain a butterfly
upon Sarah came to rest.

Little Sarah knew her daddy was in heaven looking down,
the teardrops falling from the sky could almost match her own,
and with the angels' help, she knew he must have sent the butterfly,
to let her know that he was home and she and Mommy would be fine.

And then Sarah, as she stood out in the rain, the sun came out,
A rainbow filled the sky just as the guns gave their salute.
She whispered, "Daddy, how I love you", then released the butterfly,
and watched it soar up to the heavens, that was Sarah's last goodbye.
