Story Behind The Song
I spent many great Saturday nights listening to music on Ocean Avenue, the street that runs through just about every seaside town on the Jersey Shore. Through the faded glory of Asbury Park and great Jersey music clubs like the Stone Pony. I wrote this song while hanging out with friends at 3 in the morning at The Irish Pub in Atlantic City (way before Yellowcard's Ocean Avenue came out!) It's about listening to your favorite band in a smoky bar on a Saturday night, forgetting all your troubles and the world outside, totally getting lost in the moment and the music. There's nothing better. So get in your car, roll down your windows and let's all sing off tune together!

Lyrics
VERSE
Throw back another round
And take me
To a place you never have
To wake me
Maybe I just needed to smile
Maybe I had to hang to for awhile
And warm my feet as we try and keep
The world at bay
CHORUS 1
And the music fills the room
As the crowd sings off tune
And we soak in the beauty of it all
The backwater's flowin' down
This god-foresaken town
Remnants of a long forgotten view
On Ocean Avenue
VERSE
Looks like another night
Has ended
Remember when we spent our nights
Pretending
Maybe we just needed to smile
Maybe we had to dream for awhile
As we tapped our feet and tried to keep
The crowd at bay
CHORUS 1
BRIDGE
We can try and recapture
We can try and replace
You could never recreate
The glow across that place
CHORUS 2
And the music fills the room
As the crowd sings off tune
And we soak in the beauty of it all
The backwater's flowin' down
This sleepy one-horse town
Remnants of a once amazing view
On Ocean Avenue
CHORUS 3
And the music fills the room
As the crowd sings off tune
And we soak in the beauty of it all
The backwater's flowin' down
This god-foresaken town
In life there are so few amazing views
Like Ocean Avenue
