Story Behind The Song
I wrote this after a particularily crappy night singing on a cocktail cruise. As I walked down front street (Lahaina Maui) I passed a bunch of dime-a-dozen drum machine using musicians going through the motions. Got bummed and wrote this when I got home.

Lyrics
It was a slow night on the boat tonight
And I don?t feel much like singing
It seemed like nothing went right tonight
It?s quiet now and all I hear is ringing
Walking home along Front Street
As the world revolves around me
People buying knickknacks from the junk stores
Buying $20 t-shirts, you can get for almost free
But that?s just me
It?s the way we all feel sometimes, and that?s just me
This feeling will be gone by morning me
I get this way sometimes and that?s just me
And tomorrow I?ll be fine
On my left, the drum machine musicians
Going through the motions and getting paid
Severely screwing up, my favorite Jimmy Buffett song
Thinking that?s the way it should be played
As I pass the last bar on my way home
That last street light illuminates my way
I look back upon the day I had
A don?t know why I feel this way
CHORUS
Tonight I walk on thinking to myself
About the world and my place in history
There?ll probably never be a novel of my life?s story
Just a page in someone else?s book is just fine with me
At home the message light?s not blinking
No calls for me today
I hit the bed and pull the sheets up on me
And dream about the day I?ll make tomorrow be
