Story Behind The Song
The song was written in two bursts...the chorus was actually written about a year ago, but I never finished it. I then added the verses, pre chorus, and bridge recently. I was specifically trying to taylor this song to Kenny Roger's style. The chorus lyrics were written from a lost relationship...the rest of the lyrics were written with the thought of someone on tour, missing thier spouse. I purposely left out backing vocals so the listener can use his/her imagination to add.
Song Description
This is a ballad describing the close feelings felt by one spouse for the other spouse when the two are seperated for a period of time because of obligation.
(IE: Touring, Military, Job, Etc...) This is not a breakup song, but rather a "I want to tell you how much I really love you" song.

Lyrics
If time could be borrowed
I'd trade it all today
For a year of tomorrows
Just to tell you everything I'd want to say
And I'd say
You're the light on the shoreline
The eye in a storm
And those days when I'm gone
You can rest assured
(Chorus)
I'm still by your side
My love will surround you
My arms will be 'round you
When near or far
I'm still by your side
I'll always encourage
Respect you and cherish
In every way
I'm still by your side
It's never easy to travel
Any road that leads away
But the love that will follow
Will bring me back to you again
And once again
Like a star in the north
You're the guide on my course
I know I've told you before
But I can't say it enough
Warmer than my day in the sun
Closer than a shadow can run
And the best of us remains to be seen
Cuz I know all the way
You've been with me through the droughts and the rains
(And you're) still by my side
