Story Behind The Song
We were recording our album, Knee Deep in Giants, and I went for a walk during mixing. On my way back, I came across the aftermath of an accident in which a guy on a bike had been hit by a car and had died. People had gathered around to look. I was immediately inspired to write this song, imagining 2 teenage girls coming together because of this.

Lyrics
VERSE 1
Caroline was nothin? but a fly on the wall in a random time
Only 17, she was caught up in the world in her mind
Couldn?t stand the girls, couldn?t understand the boys
Or what they wanted from her
Some careless combination of bones and noise, that?s all they were
VERSE 2
2 blocks over, little miss everyone, Sara Jean
Livin? in a mirror so everyone could see she was a beauty queen
Never drank, never smoke, never got a single joke. She?d laugh anyway
Always fun, always fine, she?d never give a Caroline the light of day
BRIDGE
Someday they will know, someday they will see
There is no time to let it go, there?s only time to let it be
3RD VERSE
Friday afternoon, headin? home from school to their separate lives
Sara Jean?s car would not start so Caroline gave her a ride
The turn was tight, they didn?t see the red light that they ran
And in a blink in time, Sara Jean and Caroline killed a man
4TH VERSE
Caroline went back to her own little world
Sara Jean, the beauty queen, stayed a pretty girl
But there would always be a hole in the wall
Yes, there would always be a hole in the wall
