My girlfriend of six years was going to travel across country for 4 months alone. There were a lot of questions and tension about what was going to happen to our relationship while she was gone. This situation inspired the song. The girlfriend left me while on that trip for a hippi girl that was living in a cave at the time. They fell in love in two days and broke up 4 months later.
