Story Behind The Song
I was driving past an abandoned restaurant one dreary Sunday morning when I saw a sign in the window that read "Closed For Renovations." Ahah, I said. That would make a great title/theme of a country song that described my current life.
Song Description
Closed For Renovations tells the story of a guy who still lives alone three years after breaking up with the love of his life. The break-up was mutual, but still heart-breaking. He's closed down, still trying to rebuild his heart. As long as he's closed down, his life is going nowhere. He can't move on.

Lyrics
He lived alone on the outskirts of some little town,
Playing his music each evening with no one around.
Life was passing him by
Like a movie that played every night across the sky
Like a dream, from the past
That he knew wouldn't last.
Three long years had gone by since he left his world behind;
Three long years but it seemed like it wasn't that much time.
He could still hear her cry
On the day that they closed up their lives and said goodbye
To the dream, and the past
And the love that didn't last.
This heart is closed for renovations.
There is no statute of limitations for the pain
Left after love's grand expectations
Crumble like sand castles falling in the rain.
This heart is closed for renovations.
There is no sign in the window that any, anyone is there
Waiting for love's sweet restoration
Until the last rays of sunlight disappear.
