Story Behind The Song
This song started with the simple opening chord progression which I wrote sitting on the couch one night in 2001. I then wrote the lyrics sitting in a hotel on a business trip. Got some nice help from Bert and Brent on the overall arrangement and harmonies.
Song Description
A man looks into a mirror and wonders who is the "real me"...the one that everyone sees smiling on the outside, or the one who is conflicted and judgemental on the inside. This one must be about me...although it didn't start out that way, But it probably is the way we all feel once in awhile.

Lyrics
There?s a man that I see everyday
Who looks at me in a different way
As the tension swings and the seasons change
His thoughts seem to scramble and rearrange
He always smiles and says hello
Though the days are dark and the wind may blow
I wonder where?s he?s going to
I don?t think that he?s like me and you
His thoughts are heavy on his mind
And he walks as if he?s running out of time
But he shines that smile through every mile
(Chorus)
What?s your plan Mirror Man?
Can you see me?
Do you understand?
If you can Mirror Man,
Stop next time
And talk awhile
Mirror Man
There are times when he is all alone
Away from the crowds and the telephone
When the image in the mirror clears
And all the confusion disappears
It?s all so heavy on his mind
And he wonders when he?ll ever find the time
But he shines that smile through every mile
(Chorus)
(Break)
I don?t know why I feel I have to judge you
?Cause every time I feel that I?m above you
Something always brings me down
Puts my feet back on the ground
Wipe away that critical frown
Mirror Man
(Lead)
(Chorus)
