Story Behind The Song
I was asked by his surviving wife (my sister) to write a song and perform it at his funeral. Steve W. Smith was only 63 when he passed. He will be greatly missed by all his family and I. Since I live in Hawaii and play alot of ukelele, it seemed fitting somehow to write this for the uke.

Lyrics
You were like a boat on the ocean
That carried us all along
Through the years and every kind of weather
You're course was true and strong
I didn't know how much I loved you,
But I do now that you're gone
So this is my fond Aloha song
You built us a strong home in the harbor
Yet sailed us across the seas
Your time has passed by all too quickly
But not your memories
We gather here with tears of sorrow
But know that we'll carry on
And this is our most fond Aloha song
Interlude
We didn't know how much we loved you
But we do now that you're gone
And this is our most fond Aloha song
