Class of 03's Best Wishes

Story Behind The Song

A song about that self obsessed asshole you knew in high school. You know you have one. That one kid that just thought his shit didn’t smell like... well, shit, and let every compliment go straight to his head. It’s like you’ll never understand what girls saw in losers like that. Maybe it’s the confidence, but in high school especially, girls are really bad at recognizing the difference between confidence and conceit. For me, there’s more than one here, and maybe part of it is jealousy, but there is nothing more frustrating than watching girls hand themselves over to some piece of shit who is just looking to get off. There really are some kids I thought the world would be better off without, and this song is for them.

Lyrics

So, only about seven more months to kill and you’re an even bigger joke than you were before. You thought sophomore year had brought you over everybody’s head, but we all know who got fucked and who got fucked over. So how are all the little girls treating you these days? You think you're so unbelievably smart, because you've seared the edges of our nerves, and you think it won't come around to bite you in the ass someday. Just you wait. Class joke, "most attractive..." One day someone's going to wipe that stupid smirk off your face, and rest assured I'll be the first one to form the shadow over you and laugh, or throw the after party. A few or twenty-five drinks later, you’ll be
stumbling up the stairs, to piss out a mixture of alcohol and deception from a good day’s work. Maybe we never knew each other all that well, but I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to tell you face to face that the world doesn’t need anymore fakes or phonies than it’s already got, and one of you is already more than it can afford. You’ll lean over the sink, and look into the mirror, but it isn’t even you you’re looking at. I don’t think you’d know it if you saw it. All these years I’ve always wondered what the people like you have, that I never seemed to have got. It took me these four years, and I never quite got it. But I’ve got something that you don’t. You’ll probably never understand it. But we’ve got plenty of hard feelings. So let’s grab the matches, and burn this place to the ground.
