The Inspiration of "If It Was Me"
It was a fall October evening. We were in the studio kicking a few ideas and piano riffs
around for our next song and not really formulating anything that we liked. So, we took a break and
just starting talking for a little bit. We talked about good girls, bad girls, fun girls and pretty
covered our female understanding from a-z. However, there was one topic that we could not figure out.
It seems like all the "good girls" that are devoted, caring, and there for there man always date guys
that cheat or mistreat them. We wonder what it is that makes a lot of good girls overlook good guys
and go for the guys they think they can "change". As we stayed on this subject a riff here and a riff there
started to form and verse by verse we realized we were creating a song that was everyone's heart all
the way from the group to the producer to the engineer to the label managers! Once the train started rollin',
it was impossible to stop and within mere hours, If It Was Me had been born.....
We hope you can relate to our emotions and longing to be her boyfriend in this song. There has to be women
out there who still appreciate a good, devoted man.
