The song was written mostly in Maastricht in The Netherlands. It was recorded in San Diego. The drums and lead guitar were recorded at Universal Sound in San Diego, and the rest of the tracks were recorded at Scott's home studio in San Diego, CA. The song was inspired by All You Need is Love by The Beatles, and is a commentary on the pop music medium, which seeks to simplify complicated matters into pop confections for mass consumption.
