Story Behind The Song
One night in May, the album fully underway, I was struck by a deep sense of awe and sadness about the power of the “Great Spirit” that moves this world. I was humbled by the patience of this power as we have drifted so far from the truth of who we are. As I sat down at the piano to write this song, I could hear the voices of the Native American people, distant drums, and haunting flute. Gentle Thunder’s flute arrangement so exquisitely voices this quiet beckoning to remember. “Moving Oceans” is the album’s “anthem” to all our relations.

Lyrics
You can let it come, you can bring it down
Cuz we can’t stop the rain of our hearts now
Oh we’ve just begun we’ve begun we’ve begun
To hear the sound of the river
As it’s falling to the ground and
Please don’t lose faith in us
Remember we are only captivated
By you when
While you are moving oceans
We are busy running for dry land oh oh
While you are moving oceans
We are merely pushing, merely pushing,
Merely pushing
Grains of sand
So that one by one, we will understand
It’s humbling, to the point of wondering
If we’ll ever be, what you see
We catch a glimpse
We touch the place
And we feel the sound
If only for a moment and
Please don’t lose faith in us
Remember we are only captivated
By you when
While you are moving oceans
We are busy running for dry land oh oh
While you are moving oceans
We are merely reaching, merely reaching, merely reaching for your hand
So that one by one, we will understand
