Lyrics
Society's Child
chorus:
He's got his daddys eyes, his mama's smile
But that was long ago, before you know
He became nobody's child
verse:
From the time he was born till he was 14
He was the happiest child anyone ever seen
His smile was as wide as the sky
and his eyes could light up the night.
But at 14 he started to change
He no longer was acting the same
He started staying out all night
They went to town to see if he was alright.
When they found him
They asked where he'd been
Said -Just hanging out with friends
But don't you worry-I'll be home
But in the morning he still hadn't showed.
chorus:
He's got his daddy's eyes, his mama's smile
But that was long ago before you know
he became nobody's child
He's got his daddy's eyes, his mama's smile
But that was long ago,
before he became society's child.
verse:
He no longer went to school
Said they had too many rules
He just up and walked away
He got stoned another day.
And they thought he might change
When he seen how his friends were passing away
from the drugs they took that very day.
But he just smiled and walked away.
chorus:
He's got his daddy's eyes, his mama's smile
But that was long ago, before you know
he became nobody's child
He's got his daddy's eyes, his mama's smile
But that was long ago,
before he became society's child.
verse:
They saw him in town one day
They stopped to see if he was ok.
His eyes were all aglazed
And his smile faded away.
They could tell by the look in his eyes
and by that faded smile
that he was running out of time.
If he didn't change he was gonna die
chorus:
Now he's got sad eyes, he no longer smiles
like he did long ago, before
he became nobody's child.
Now he's got sad eyes, he no longer smiles
Like he did long ago before he became society's child.
Like he did long ago before he became society's child.
