Tequila Talking

Story Behind The Song

My friends and I spend a lot of time at a local Mexican restaurant and tequila bar, we were traveling to Mexico on a trip so I wrote this for them. We really have created a family who talks about our hopes and dreams. Some of us pursue them, some of us hang out at the bar and talk about them, for me I do a bit of both.

Song Description

The idea is that people find places where they are comfortable and feel open to talk about what they really want in life, sometimes you need a little tequila to help the conversation. Hopefully those dreams are going to be realized. The key is that sitting and drinking with friends really isn't a waste of time, it helps us regroup and figure out what we really want. Sometimes these waking hopes and dreams that seem crazy when we are sober are actually what we really want in life, and if we get the gumption we will go out and do what we think in our hearts we should do, and maybe despite our rational side we may succeed! Exactly what songwriting is about right?

Lyrics

Tequila Talking

A margarita rocks no salt
But be sure to save a grain for what I say
If I misspeak its not my fault
when the Anejo has its way

It's not that I mean to lie
But I've told a tall tale or two
In this here bar well it's alright
to let agave paint the truth

Cuz it's just tequila talking
You never know what it might say
It's just tequila talking
Today

I'm gonna run a marathon
And I'll start on that new project on Monday
Hey Greidy pour another one
I think Miguel is on a break

And I've been working on my songs
And I'm really sure to hit it big
I'm gonna quit all my jobs
Now that I come to think of it

But it's just tequila talking
You never know what it might say
It's just tequila talking
Today

Without the filter
A family was built here
Tequila takes our fears away

Well maybe we're dreaming
We're tequila scheming
But I believe that one day

It won't be tequila talking
And we'll all do what we say
It won't be tequila talking
Someday
